Artist Statement: In 2003, I went on a spiritual journey of personal discovery for a year as I traveled across California. With camera in hand, I took solace in the whispers of the ancient Redwoods in Northern California and the rantings of the Joshua Trees in the Mojave Desert. Returning to San Diego, I gathered friends and strangers alike to select found objects that created the visual foundation of the cards.
In creating Brotherhood Tarot, I aimed to offer a deck that speaks directly to the LGBTQ+ experience, blending ancient tarot symbolism with radical faerie queer iconography. The deck is a reflection of community, empowerment, and personal truth.
